4D License Activation and Management

Automatic activation new 4D versions

With the release of new versions of 4D, SapphireOne has implemented automatic activation of the new version. The SapphireOne server must be allowed to connect to the internet in order to verify the paid-up license with 4D. This process is automatic and does not require any user intervention.

However, if the server is unable to connect to the internet or the activation process fails for any reason, manual activation will be required. The IT manager will need to contact SapphireOne support for assistance in this case.

It is important to note that the SapphireOne server should always be licensed for the latest version of 4D to ensure that it is running on a supported platform and has access to the latest features and updates.

4D Licenses.

4D licenses have undergone a change in their activation process. License keys are no longer required as 4D has adopted the same licensing system as Apple with Mac and recently Microsoft with Windows. The two operating platforms now connect to an Apple or Microsoft server over the internet to verify that they have been installed with a paid license.

For the first time that automatic license activation is performed, the old licenses must still be present on the server machine. This process will happen automatically after the initial installation is completed. In the case of a brand-new Mac or Windows computer, the old licenses must be installed in the correct location before the switch to a digital license is completed.

In case the system boots to the old license key activation process in the future, it may indicate that the path to the 4D server on the internet is busy. In this case, it is recommended to wait a few minutes and try again later.
