Grouping Overview

The Sapphire Grouping tool enables the user to group matrix inventory items and label each group accordingly. A Matrix table is most often used within the footwear, clothing, apparel, sporting goods, recreational equipment manufacturing industries, in particular the fashion and retail industry, and is used to order and identify inventory items within a multidimensional grid format. It is commonly referred to as a colour style matrix and uses a master inventory item or product to then display the varying size, colour and style of that product in a matrix style table.

The Sapphire Grouping tool is extremely useful in organising inventory and allows the user to group similar items into particular categories of relevancy. For example, a fashion retailer may produce a variety of items under different categories such as clothing, footwear, accessories, etc. and they have created a matrix table for each item within that category in Matrix inquiry. They then may decide that they want to create another matrix table that groups individual inventory items from each category into one table under a particular heading e.g. 100% Merino Wool. The Sapphire user can utilise the Grouping tool to merge the matrices into one table and title it 100% Merino Wool.

This tool is used to create groupings of matrix items. When a Matrix Inquiry is open and displaying a list of items this tool allows the user to create groupings of these items and give each group an individual name. Full details are in the Inventory manual in the section on a matrix inquiry.
