Version 18.1 of SapphireOne is now available. All Australian SapphireOne clients are required to upgrade to this release to remain compliant with the new myGov credential framework, which came into effect on 28 March 2020 following the retirement of AUSkey.
To ensure ongoing compliance with Single Touch Payroll (STP) and Standard Business Reporting (SBR2)requirements, Version 18.1 must be installed before your next payroll event.
A Major Platform Update
Version 18.1 represents a significant milestone in the evolution of SapphireOne. This release includes a complete rewrite of all data entry interfaces, delivering a modernised look and feel across the entire application. Alongside the visual refresh, hundreds of new features and functional enhancements have been introduced, improving usability, performance, and long-term scalability.
This foundational upgrade ensures SapphireOne continues to meet regulatory requirements while supporting future development and innovation.
myGov Integration
myGov provides a secure, single login to access Australian Government online services. With Version 18.1, SapphireOne supports full integration with myGov, allowing businesses to lodge STP and SBR2 reports and submit superannuation information through a single, secure entry point.
This streamlined approach reduces complexity, removes the need for multiple credentials, and simplifies ongoing compliance with government reporting obligations.
Single Touch Payroll (STP)
Single Touch Payroll streamlines employer reporting to the Australian Taxation Office by submitting payroll information at the time payroll is processed. This enables the ATO to pre-fill Business Activity Statements (BAS), reducing errors and eliminating double handling.
SapphireOne has been fully STP certified since 1 May 2018, with clients benefiting from compliant STP submissions since 1 July 2018. Version 18.1 ensures a seamless continuation of STP reporting under the new myGov credential framework, maintaining fast, reliable, and compliant payroll submissions.
Standard Business Reporting (SBR2)
Standard Business Reporting is designed to reduce the time and effort businesses spend preparing and submitting government reports. By embedding SBR2 rules directly into SapphireOne, reporting is generated using information already captured as part of day-to-day operations.
With SBR2 enabled in SapphireOne, businesses no longer need to log in to external government portals or manually re-enter data. This improves accuracy, reduces administrative burden, and ensures consistent compliance across reporting obligations.
AUSkey Replacement: myGovID and RAM
AUSkey was officially replaced by myGovID and Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM) at 11:59 pm AEDT on Friday 27 March 2020. These services provide a more secure and flexible way to access government online services.
myGovID verifies an individual’s identity, while RAM controls who is authorised to act on behalf of a business. A machine credential is installed on the computer and used by SapphireOne to securely interact with ATO online services. This machine credential replaces the role previously performed by AUSkey within the application.
To support this change, SapphireOne Version 18.1 or later is mandatory.
Upgrade Requirement
All Australian SapphireOne clients must upgrade to Version 18.1 to:
- Continue lodging STP and SBR2 reports
- Use myGovID, RAM, and machine credentials
- Maintain uninterrupted access to government services
