Update KiwiSaver Employee Super to 3.5% Overview
KiwiSaver is New Zealand’s retirement savings scheme. In SapphireOne, KiwiSaver settings are maintained at the employee level and are used in employer and employee superannuation calculations.
The Update KiwiSaver Employee Super tool allows you to update the employee KiwiSaver contribution rate from 3% to 3.5% for one or more selected employees. The tool will only apply the change where the existing employee contribution rate is set to 3%. If an employee is already on a different rate, SapphireOne will leave the rate unchanged.
When to use this tool
Use this tool when you need to bulk update employer KiwiSaver contribution rates to 3.5% for a group of employees, rather than editing each employee record individually.
How to use the Update KiwiSaver Employer Super tool
- This tool updates the employer KiwiSaver contribution rate from 3% to 3.5% only where the starting value is exactly 3%.
- Ensure you have appropriate Payroll/HR permissions to run Sapphire Tools from Employee Inquiry.
- Employees with an employer KiwiSaver rate not equal to 3% will not be changed.
- It is recommended you validate a small selection first, then proceed with larger groups if required.
- Go to Payroll/HR Mode > Payroll/HR Administration > Payroll/HR Administration Inquiries > Payroll Administration Employee.
- Select the employee(s) you want to update. If you are updating multiple employees, highlight the relevant records (you may also use your normal selection/subset method to work with just the employees you intend to update).
- Open Sapphire Tools and select Update KiwiSaver Employee Super.
- Open an updated employee record and check the Superannuation page to confirm the employee KiwiSaver rate has changed from 3% to 3.5% (where applicable).
